These Black snub-nose monkeys live on a high altitude forests in Yunnan, China. They are fed regularly so it is easy to see them. Well, you have to climb for half an hour with not much oxygen in the air. The first day I thought I was never getting there!
The cirmcumstances with the harsh sunlight were not ideal for photos, but it was a thrill to see these endangered animals.

Ellen, nice image of this monkey. I think you caught a good expression on his face. Do wish that branch was not right behind its head. Thanks for sharing.

Ellen, I'm really enjoying these primate photos from your travels in China. Although the light is slightly harsh, the details are good and the fur still retains a nice plush appearance. Might like to see a little more detail in the highlights. You really captured an adorable facial expression - and that's where my eye goes right away. I'm a big fan of creative framing, the mauve border and dropshadow is very attractive and brings out the pink lips of the monkey. Nice!! :toast:

Gary provided so really good analysis. I just want to add that given what look to be especially tricky shooting circumstances, you have come away with a pleasing image. Wonderful subject! I hope you have more images of these guys to share.
