Ocean Point, Boothbay, Maine

One of my favorite hang outs in mid coast Maine any time of day.

Pentax 67II
Pentax 55-100mm
4-Stop ND
Fujichrome Velvia 50

Thanks for having a look.

Eva, One day I have to make it to Main! I want to see some of this for myself, but for now your images from here will keep me
thinking about it. I really like this comp and love those rocks with all the color and lines. The water motion is nice contrast to me against the solid rock. I wonder about bringing down the brighter light on the top of the rock surface in the upper left, but I'm really not sure about that.... so maybe not.
Just looked at the larger version and love it.

Nice Eva !!
Like the colours, and the contrast between the solid rock and the moving water.
Yet, you managed to preserve the separation between the rocks and water, resulting the feelking of depth in the image.
Must have used a pretty dinky f-stop to get that kind of depth of field.

Thanks Nick and Stan.

Stan - I probably used f/22 or f/32 on the Pentax lens. Not sure, but I should start recording it.

Those rocks have so much character and the color combination works very nicely.

This is very nice, I love the contrast between the harsh textured rocks and the softer stirred up water. The colors in the rocks really have that Velvia feel to them...I like the diagonal angles here but wondering if more of a 50/50 comp would be stronger??? just thinking anyway..works well as presented.

I like that it takes me a while to figure out what I’m looking at. The cliff effect of the rock edge holds my attention.

Eva, the diagonal placement in the frame of the rock shoreline cliff area works extremely well here. The contrast between the static rocks and the motion in the water provides an interesting perspective from this vantage point too. I especially like the detail & color in the rocks also.

I like the contrast between the sharp rocks & the blurred water...am intrigued however by the parts of the water that seem to be sharp in the midst of the blur!

Thanks all for your comments.

Hi Eirini - There are large rocks just under the surface of the water which may be what you are seeing. The tide was starting to come in when I took this. The rock ledge I was standing on when I took this was soon under water at high tide as well. There is a twelve foot tide here in Boothbay.

Thanks Bill! Seascapes are my favorite of all landscapes images. You have some grand seascapes in your part of the world for sure. I've been there a few times.

Nice balance of the two main elements. Contrast wise, water maybe feels a bit dark and the light area of rock in the upper left seems a little too light. Sort of adds to the overall tension in the scene, but also seems a bit lacking in harmony.
