Ugly Duckling?

Sony A77
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 400, 1/200 @ f16

Found a couple of snout butterflies gorging on our sedum yesterday. For my taste these little guys are pretty ugly and as far as I know they don't turn into swans but it was still fun chasing them. All comments welcome.>=))>

Excellent capture and image, Bill. Very good detail throughout the flowers and BF from use of the 16, but your angled comp still got you nice separation from the bg. The detail in the BF's torso and head/snout is particularly impressive. I've never seen a snout BF, or an image of one. Thanks for sharing this one. :toast:

We have lots of Snouts out right now...I think they are quite cute! My favorite part is their snouts which is well captured here! I like the perch a lot too! Nothing ugly here!

We rarely see snouts in this area, which may be partly why I find them so interesting. This is a fine look at one, with excellent detail in the thorax, snout, and antennae.

Good detail on the BF, and a nice sense of depth brought on by the sedum. Bill, I am seeing some fine dimpling in the BG colors under the butterfly in the large image. Nothing objectionable, particularly. I just wanted to make you aware of it, if you hadn't noticed it.

Nice and sharp where it counts, that 'snout' really stands out like the nose on your face Bill:wink:
The sedum makes a colorful and interesting perch, well done!:wavey:
