Bosque, Dec 2012

I intentionally left the 2 OOF geese to add interest-thoughts?
Also chose F4 to allow a bit of wing-blur - otherwise I'd have 5000 nearly-the-same images from Bosque!

D800
500mm
1/1250 sec, f/4
Mode: Av
Metering: Spot
Exp comp: +1/3
ISO: 640
AF mode: AF-C
White balance: AUTO1

Hi Sandy: Classic Snow Goose landing pose. The 2 OOF geese don't bother me much. I'm not fond of the split background right in the middle.

Ok, a bit of a different crop that I agree is better - thanks, Keith.

Hi Sandy
The OOF geese do not bother me at all either. Its amazing you were able to get his head in focus between his wings. Shooting at f4 with a 500mm lenses gives you little DOF. Great capture!

Wow! You just got his head in the photo! I like the sharpness, his pose, and the colors.

sweet light and a nice pose, Sandy. I prefer the original where the bird has more room to land. I'd suggest that the blur (at least in the near wing, not sure about the far) is motion blur, not due to the f/4, since the wingtip appears to be between the head and the outer edge of the wing, which are both in focus.

The coors, subject, and light almost scream Bosque del Apache.

Gorgeous light and you actually managed to get a catchlight out of one of these-something I found very difficult. The oof geese do pull my eye a bit.

The new crop is better, and I really like the bg orange color as it ties in with the bill and feet colors. Love how you caught the wings and head. Nice work, Sandy.

Perfect pose on this Sandy. Really like the pastel colours. Persomally I would have more room at the bottom and less at the top because he looks as though he is landing

Great image that brings back my memories of the Bosque from last year. I do like the comp with the OOF birds in the bg.
