A Sequoia Moment

Fresh snow and fog fulfilled my desires as I hiked through the Giant Forest in Sequoia NP last week. I've never heard such quiet.

My initial reaction was WT... and that's probably a good thing, photos/art should make you stop and think, and this does that. I like it!

I love the concept here. The fog and perspective are excellent.
The bright sequoia, to me, is too bright and red, and draws the eye from the wonderful misty trees in the BG.
I think this would be an even-stronger image if the sequoia were toned down a lot and more subtle.

Beautiful capture Jeffrey. Reminds me a work of your countryman, David Muench. Very well done.

Your image speaks for itself. Enough said. Well, almost...I really like it.

I like the mood. I agree with Sandy about toning down the sequoia. But I also like the image as is.

I like this and think that the soft warmth of the main trunk tells the story of quietness nicely.

Without the strong color contrasts front to back I think this would be a much more static, less impacting image. Nice work creating that depth and interest for a dynamic shot.

This does take a few seconds to digest. I initially thought the sequoia was dominating but I think it actually gives a sense of place and personally I would leave it as is...I love the mood created by the fog. Beautiful job!

The larger version is really nice. I might crop a sliver off the left hand side to remove that odd vertical line in the bottom left corner. Other than that this is wonderful as presented. :toast:

Just beautiful. It appears as if the reddish trunks have tinted the fog. Way cool.

I like it! Definitely a different view of a sequoia than we usually see and that's good.

How did I miss commenting on this? I've opened it at least 3 times. So much mood and mystery here. That giant red tree fronting the fog and trees behind is excellent. Like was said, a piece that makes you stop and think and explore. :toast:

Congrats! I think you could easily have dropped the butt-swell on this redwood to show a different look...but, this adds a lot...and I am glad the ground is cropped out too. Nicely composed! Excellent on many aspects.

Beautiful. I really like the depth created by the foreground sequoia with its color and textures that are, nevertheless, still muted by the fog. :toast:

Very beautiful. I like the dark outline of the tree on the left. It nicely balances the sequoia truck and directs the view back to it.
