Capped Heron

Meeting up with another photographer on my recent trip to Panama we had the great fortune of coming across this Capped Heron. The gentleman I shot with has been visiting the Canal Area for the last four years, and this was his first sighting of this somewhat uncommon heron.

This bird was fairly secretive and we waited for close to an hour before we could capture him out from under the thick marsh grasses.

Excellent. Looks like a tough shot to exposure correctly and to get the white balance and other colors looking natural.

Excellent colors, love the foliage framing the heron, very pleasing picture. Since the foliage is so nice I find myself feeling it's tight on the left and the top. And in the larger version there's a white speckle in his cap at about 11 o'clock from his eye that draws my attention. Very well done, congrats.
