Big Iron River

This picture was made during my recent winter trip to Upper MI and the Keweenaw Peninsula. Hope you are not tired of these winter scenes yet. This was shot during a heavy snow just below Bonanza Falls on the Big Iron River. I loved being out shooting on this wintry day. I had a wonderful peaceful feeling this whole afternoon and enjoyed it so much. Thanks for any thoughts!

My thoughts, Nick, are that I remember winters like this and country scenes not much different and the "quiet" of snowfall. depending on temperature there would be crunch with every footstep. Love the mood.

This image makes me feel winter with snow in my face. It does have that hushed , quiet feeling about it that is very peaceful. I like the right fg and left bg composition. Glad you enjoyed the day, a real bonus. Chet

Man, you do love you some snow, Nick! :jump: I find it harder and harder to get out in winter the older I get. Of course, I'm missing beautiful scenes like this one. The snow makes this one a cut above.

I am not at all tired of your winter scenes! This one doesn't hit me the same as other recent ones though...it feels a little more busy somehow. Your Snow Storm, Winter storm, & Winter Birch are my favorite snow scenes so far!

Terrific atmosphere and I love the snow for sure! Perfect presentation as usual. IM on the fence with the comp--feels a bit blocky with the three sections and empty bottom left third. I feel like copying it and reversing the copy to make one of those funky reflection photo art pieces--so the white part is framed in the middle. But overall its pretty cool--wish I were there! :wavey:

Nick, this is an outstanding beautiful image for me and I do enjoy the serenity it conveys to me. There is an amazing kind of weightlessness to it that I really admire. One of my top favorites from your work so far.

Love this scene, Nick. I am especially fond of the composition - an unforced near-far strategy that works so well here.

Looks like a great time to be out exploring. This is very inviting, I'm ready to snowshoe around the bend.

Beautiful image Nick. Not even close to becoming tired with your winter images. This has a great feel to it. My only suggestion would be to clone the small bit of grass in the lower left corner.

Thanks Bill! Maybe a couple more to go yet...
I thought about that grass in the lower right corner too. If I printed this I would probably take that out! Cheers, Nick
