Hoarfrost & Snow

What a morning this has been in the Belchen region of switzerland (Jura Mountains). We were on location at six in the morning and have been waiting for four hours in fog but all we got were cold feets and hands....not to mention the ice cold wind. Anyway, at about 10 we hiked back to our cars and as we drove down the pass the sun shone through a thin layer of fog. We went back after we had a cup of coffee.........

This scene just sparkles. The snow, the frost on the tree and the blue sky all work very well together. The snow might be just a bit hot.

I really like the sparkle in the snow and branches, the cool blue of the sky and the sparse weeds in the foreground leading to the tree. I wish you'd have been one or two steps closer so that the top of the stalks in the foreground weren't overlapping the bush behind them.

Beautiful image. Love that tree against the polarized sky. Tone the foreground snow down just a bit. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely stunning. Love your choice of comp and exposure. The thin shadow coming at you in the FG is neat, reminds me of a sundial.

Bill, A wonderful winter view! I really like the cold, clear, and crisp feel this image has. The hoarfrost really made for beautiful conditions and you captured that here! :toast:

Beautiful crisp winter image Bill. Like the coloure and the hoar frost textures. I agree with the others on the snow being a little hot. Really nice.

A fine comp creating the "window" framing the distant peak with the trees. While this is not as dramatic as a lot of the work you have posted recently, it is a beautiful winter scene. And, it conveys the cold, and brightness of sun on snow extremely well. Excellent work.
