After Hours

A few weeks back I pulled my feet out of the mud and spent a week in Death Valley. That place is about as far away from my usual turf as I can get without going to the moon. This image is from my last few hours in the park near Artist's Palette. As soon as the sun went below the rim, the twenty or so photographers already there packed up and I had the place for myself to enjoy the quiet and watch the first stars appear.

David, This is really an interesting scene and very well done! I like your composition and really enjoy the color and textures you have here. The detail looks wonderful as well. Nice work and I like that you stuck around and got to enjoy the quietness of this place by yourself. :toast:

Nicely performed interpretation, i like the position of colors you chose, somewhat different from usual scenes. Details of the rocks look very well in the larger version.. Very subjective nit - ligher area in upper right seem a bit too bright and steals attention from more interesting central areas.

Sometimes the magic happens when you least expect it. I glad you went with your intuition. A unique capture of DVNP I'm sure. :toast:

Great capture of the atmosphere at dusk for me, David, and an appealing mixture of textures and the subdued colors.

Fantastic pattern of folds and forms with wonderful subtle color. Beautiful work, David. Definitely about as far from the swamp as you can get. Superb.

A nice tele-comp, and the colors, textures, and layers are all beautiful.
