Cockrell Butterfly Center, Houston Museum of Natural Sciences

Took my son, daughter in law and their six little kids to the butterfly center Friday. I didn't really expect to do any shooting with all the little people skittering about but I did get a few shots of this Red Lacewing. The center does allow monopods but I left it at home. (Could have used it for crowd control.) Shot most of the days images on burst mode and at 12 frames per second I managed to get a few keepers. The technology built into this camera boggles my mind. A good time was had by all and this little guy was certainly not camera shy. All comments welcome.>=))>

Wonderful colors and such clarity. Amazing that you could get this at all with all the people and hand held. Just beautiful.

Very crisp and clean capture of this butterfly, Bill. . .the sharpness is fantastic! Love the designs and colors in this beautiful butterfly. Sounds like a fun outing with the grandkids. . .though you were probably exhausted at days' end.

That's one spectacular butterfly. What an array of colors and lines. Interestingly, the 720 px view seems oversharpened, but that's gone from the larger view.

Nicely done Bill, lovely colors & patterns in this beauty..
Sounds like you did an outstanding job considering you left your monopod at home..
I can see where it would come in handy for the 'crowd control' thing.
Very funny BTW
