Sand Snakes

Awhile back Stan approved my visa for visits to Great Sand Dunes National Park. Certainly haven't fully exercised that privilege, life keeps intervening. But this week I was passing through and stole a moment or two. It is my hope to get there at a time when I will subsequently be walking out in the dark. At least I wasn't there in the middle of the day.

Nikon D600, Nikon 20mm. Lightweight treatment in Lightroom 4.

Really nice detail in the sand and especially like the details in the far dunes Russ.Really draws your eyes to the back. Nice.

A beautiful expanse of sand leading up to the dunes. The light on the dunes is excellent for revealing their size and texture. A little more work in the upper left sky and clouds maybe? Beautiful shot from there.

I love the sand and how it draws you to the dunes. I think the strip of sky helps add interest to the dunes and the overall composition is very nice.

Thanks everyone, yup Stan would like to join you sometime. I walked to the wrong parking lot access point, and that was in broad daylight. I'm not usually that bad at finding my way.
