Another nice snowfall yesterday, and again, not able to resist these gorgeous Cardinals! This one gave me lots of time for experimenting so I got brave and increased my ISO to 800, and am pretty happy with the results in regard to noise.

50D, 500mm w/1.4, ISO 800, 1/40, F13

LARGER version posted, too, and thank you for your comments/critiques!

This has your trademark look - I knew immediately whose shot this was. A lovely subtle image with nice understated colors.

A lovely lady indeed. Exquisite details in the feathers and a classic perch. A gorgeous portrait, can't find anything I'd change.

Love the colours of these and maybe one day I will get to see one. I really like the vertical in this shot and the touches of snow. Great head turn and nice work on the eye contact.

All the best Sharon.

Danny.

I like the perch and setting plus seeing the backside gives some nice added extra color. Well done Sharon.

Sharon,
The background, pose and perch all work perfectly - nicely done. On my monitor at least the image does seem a bit flat. I get the impression that the 'shadow' control in camera raw was pushed up a bit too much, or perhaps it was just the soft lighting.
