Sidewalk—After the Storm

I shot this with a Canon Power Shot since my big camera was at home. There was flooding in town and these weeds captured me. I removed a few others for a minimalist look. Comments welcome.

Neat. The only improvement I can see would be to place one clump in the LL 1/3d position and the other in the UR 1/3d position.

I like this; it immediately reminded me of Peter Gabriel's lyrics to "Here Comes the Flood".

One never knows what may have been possible, but if, through framing or crop or photoshop, it would be possible to put more empty space at the top and bottom, I think that would be good. Then I think maybe a portrait or square aspect ratio might work better.

I like the diagonal and that it makes one think as to what this is. I also like the color contrast of the yellow flowers against the blue background. And, of course, the silhouette aspect of it with the yellow flowers standing out.

Lucy: Good vision on this one. I like the comp although I tend to agree with Phil and John regarding the placement of the elements. I could also see a tight crop of just the upper bunch. Well done.>=))>

Thanks all for the astute comments. I was wondering if the balance was a bit off myself. Cropping seems to be one of my weak points and your input is invaluable. Does this second take work better? Thanks again.

Nice work and a very fine image, Lucy. I prefer the repost to the original.

Both are just fine, but the repost is excellent. It's a very mysterious and thought-provoking scene! The more so, I think, because of your comment about "flooding in town." So, uh, only the dandelions were left, said Noah... after saving a pair o' them for after the flood...
