Gnarly Oak Tree

This tree struck my eye driving a farm road near Madisonville, Texas. The long life and slow death could tell a story.
The dreary overcast and cold day set the tone of the slow demise of a proud Old Oak.

Definitely seen better days, but it's continuing to try, judging from the fine growth evident in the larger version. It definitely tells a story, as you said.

I love thoce old weather beaten trees. I like the subject but the light is not much appealing to me. And yes, it sure tells a story

Great subject, but I agree with Bill that the white sky is unflattering and distracting.

This looks just like the one I put the chain saw to recently. Too near the house, it had to go..
Nicely framed/composed with the bottom landscape making it great.
I especially like all the scattered dead limbs and shades of green I see there.
Have a great weekend - God Bless Texas! :wavey:
