Squinting Eagle

This Bald Eagle was perched in a tree near its nest, where an egg(s) is being incubated. The bird flew off before I could get too close, but it was another good test for the Sigma. D90, ISO-200, 1/1000th, f-8.0, 500mm. A major crop as I was still a good distance away.

Bill, I like the pose you caught this eagle in. You are correct it is a good test of the Sigma lens. You have good detail in the white feathers and the dark ones. I also like the bare tree and the BG, supports the eagle well. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks John, last year this particular bird (banding on the legs is the same, seen in another frame) allowed me to get much closer--of course with the ancient 300mm lens. This time, it didn't. Must have known I upgraded!
