Mallard Nap

This Mallard was dozing on and off in the shallows of Turtle Creek. To blur the water movement I shot this at a 1 second exposure while the eyelid was shut. Mallards close and open their eyelids while they catch a wink

Sony a77
70-400 G Sony zoom @ 400mm
ISO 50
f 18
1 second exposure
LR 4.1
PS5

So here we sit, our birds 'perched' side by side:wink:
I like this one second exposure, and its effect on the water.. It's out of the box for sure.
I'm trying to remember the last bird shot I've seen @ 1 second.. Can't remember.
Cool sleeping or 'napping' pose, its white eye covering really stands out here.
Well done Rick :wavey:

Definitely an unusual portrayal of the common mallard. Very nice, and a good result of your shooting plan. :toast:
