'Comes in Colours'

"She's a Rainbow" is a song from The Rolling Stones..
The lyrics in the chorus share the phrase "she comes in colours"
So that's how I came up with title. In case you were interested:biggrin:

The Cedar Waxings are still here, but their numbers are decreasing rapidly now. Every year I shoot em' up while it lasts of course.
F/6.3, 1/125th, ISO 640, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x and early overcast around 8:30am

Just beautiful! I love the lighting & detail...but the poufed up hairdo & expression makes this pop the most!

A really wonderful portrait, Howard. Usually, the feather detail on these is tough to capture. You got it, and got it tack sharp! I also like the somewhat unorthodox comp. A very well balance comp, and the bird stands out very well against the neutral background. :toast:

Excellent shot Howard, I love the background color with the subject and the over-the-shoulder look. Well done :toast:

Right out of the salon with just the right colors and hair to die for.
Stunning bird that never gets as far North as Dallas. Perfect bird portrait. :toast:

Very nice Howard. Love it all. Maybe just a tad on the dark side overall, but may be my monitor as I have not calibrated it in a bit. Cool shot.

I like how the backward glance allows us to see the red white and yellow a frontal view masks.

Doesn't gt much better than this with the waxwings - a great view of the mask, and paint-tipped wings.
Nice perch, detail, and BG.
Well-done!

I'll show my age and say I got your title reference while looking at the thumbnail...

Great portrait, I've never seen this type of bird before, cool 'do and shades.

Lovely capture Howard, this is the exception to most head on looks that don't look natural. Great colors, perch and BG

Awesome! This is the perfect image to show off all the reasons this is one of my favorite birds. You captured the red & yellow on the wings and tail and the head on view of the black mask works. Usually I would not prefer the bird looking right at camera but it's perfect here IMO! Congratulations!! :toast:
