Here's a shot that absolutely requires a boat. Paddling down the Saint Regis River, I admired a lone white pine surrounded by tamaracks as I rounded an island, and then noticed the leading lines of the grass in the channel. I was “shooting from the hip” (which I practice a lot) holding the camera close to the water, over the edge of the kayak as I floated downstream.
With practice, aiming instinctively can be quite accurate, but still I make sure I shoot lots of frames. As a result, I have quite a few "keepers" from this experience. I am posting another view in the Landscape Gallery,
HERE converted to black and white and then duotoned. I'd appreciate any comments comparing the two.

6 commentsI find all of the leading lines; the grass, the bank, and even the ripples, bringing my eye over to what appears to be a channel or opening that goes further back and maybe winds around toward the blue mountain in the distance.
