Moonscape

A shot from a very interesting place in northwestern New Mexico. Spent a couple of nights there last November doing some night photography. The glow and orange light is from the closest city (about 40 miles).

Thanks for taking a look and providing your comments.

What a wonderful looking lunar-like landscape! I really like the way the foreground is light-painted from the side, and what a vast area you covered! Obviously, the skies were captured separately, as a 60 sec, shutter speed would have created trails. This is a real fine evening landscape image, Keith.

Very cool and other worldly looking landscape! Is this moonlight? Colors on the horizon are nice, but wonder what it would look like without the light pollution. Nice!

Actually it is just one exposure. If you look at the larger version, you'll see the stars are not precise points of light.

Chris asked:
Is this moonlight?

Yes, this is moonlight. I don't recall the moon phase exactly, but it was a pretty dim moon that night. No light painting.

Kinda looks like a combination between bisiti badlands and goblin valley. Nice find! 60s is way too long for stars though. Gotta stick to 30s. Surreal looking shot though. Nice find :)

The foreground light is great. Did you light paint?

I think the bright orange cloud is a bit distracting. I like the glow overall, but that cloud really draws the eye, yet it's not something that is particularly compelling to look at.

"Yes, this is moonlight."
Well, then this is one of the best moonlit images I've seen!

Very nice image Keith! Love the rock formations and the colors in the sky. If this were mine, I might consider cloning out the plane trails, but that is purely subjective. Thanks for sharing!

Very nice Keith, you picked a great location for this exciting image.
I'd actually buy a print & hang it on my wall if I could afford you
Excellent.
