Great capture and composition, especially in the larger view. Hope your fishing went as well

Wow, like it a lot more than mine, Kirk. Always better when you catch them doing something. I waited for an hour hoping Dad would "bring home the beans", but to no avail. "Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity" (Seneca). Nice and sharp, with enough environment showing for context.

Nice that you captured some of that sky as well as the birds. The light is magical. Very well done. :toast:

Nice catch - if it were mine, I'd clone out that distracting branch that appears to be growingfrom the right osprey's back.
Nice detail, but seems a little "flat" - perhaps it was noon lighting. A boost in sats and contrast might help.

Thanks for the comments on this one. I decided to go back and take a 2nd look at this after reading Sandy's recommendations. I took this probably 10-15 minutes before sunset. The sun had actually dipped behind the tops of the trees that surround this beautiful lake. The warm light that is evident in parts of the frame is the sun still finding it's way through some gaps in the trees. I may have been too conservative when processing my original post. Does this repost go too far or does it feel right?

What a fine capture, Kirk! Catching the bird in flight is great but also to have a fish in his claws is even more special. Great details and nice comp. The difference between your two postings is minimal but the second does feel a bit stronger IMO. Recently we took a trip to the Chesapeake Bay and had a chance to observe these birds. We saw an osprey dive and catch a fish but then get chased by an eagle, causing the osprey to drop his fish. The eagle then claimed the prize and flew with it back to his nest. Isn't nature grand?

Wow, can't get any better than this! You caught the action perfectly, and on top of that the wing position is super-photogenic. Excellent focus and detail. Second version is even better.
