I seem to remember that was a line from some sci-fi movie, but it seemed fitting. Those are 3 Toyota FJ's traversing the road. I like the scale they added to the scene. This is Ophir Pass, in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, just a few miles south of the location of my last post. It was built in the 1880's as a wagon supply road between Ouray, Silverton and the mines in the Ophir area. I did a B&W conversion in Silver Efex Pro (not really much good color to the scene) and used the sepia toning to give it that 1880's feel.

Wow, that looks a fantastic road, I want to go there! And a very fitting title you found.... Very nice picture.

Nice example of using scale in a composition. Beyond that, I like your choice of monochrome which, to me, emphasizes the horizontal lines and textures.

I think that the visual flow is from left to right even though the road itself meets the right front edge which might suggest that as the point of entry into the mage. But this is overwhelmed, I think, by the overwhelming V shape with the apex starting at the lower rule-of-thirds on the left edge, expanding outwards toward the right to include the rock outcropping on the mountain side. I turns out that the vehicles also appear to be traveling from left to right, but this isn't immediately evident.

Finally, there is a lot of detail throughout and especially in the rocks, and the pines growing on the ridge at the top are a nece accent.

Very well seen, Scott. The sepia toning seems just right and your composition with the section of cliff surrounded by screen and the scratch of road are great.

Very graphic image, especially in B&W. I like the slanting lines of the slopes combined with the contrasting jagged upright rocks rising in the midst of these slopes. The road slanting the opposite direction makes a strong counterpoint to the slopes also. Lots of great texture in this image which is highlighted even more by the B&W treatment. The "puny" cars really give a great sense of scale and add a nice storytelling element to this image.

Great image and title to put our species into perspective in the grand scheme of this little planet. As others have mentioned, there is a lot of graphic appeal in the lines and textures here; and your processing contributes to that. I like the "old" feel of the sepia. In fact, I think it would be great if you told us the vehicles were Model Ts instead of FJ Cruisers.

Very nice capture, Scott. Lots of detail to explore with the eye, and including the vehicles certainly makes a statement about scale. I'm not a big fan of sepia, but would have liked to have seen it in B&W, to see how the tones worked out. Thanks for sharing!
