Cedar Waxwing and berry

With winter dragging on a few weeks ago, the birds were still eating the berries from the trees. I was lucky enough to be able to approach this waxwing and get about 10 minutes without spooking him before he flew off.

Thanks for looking.

Thoughts, comments, and critiques are appreciated.

The light on the bird and perch really make them stand out against the background and the colours are nicely vibrant but at the same time the background kind of absorbs everything except the breast and crest so the image doesn't appear to have very much depth.

A nice capture of a beautiful bird, I agree with Martin on the background but not much you could do about it. I like the pose and the berry in its beak. :toast:

I like this, especially with the blue berries. Birds with a black eye set into black feathers are the photographer's nemesis. This guy's eye is visible, but I wonder if you could make it pop a bit more by selectively raising the contrast around the eye.
