Canada Warbler

This warbler has a threatened status in Canada due to decreasing Spruce Budworm populations in its breeding range and reduced wintering habitat in S. America. Happy to note that there were a couple of breeding pairs in my area. Capture taken 2 years ago.

Cropped to about 25% of original.

1/350s, f/8, ISO1100 +0.5EV. 600mm + TC 1.4x on D3X.

A very unusual background that works for me. :wavey:

Great bird. Don't know the circumstances, but the tree as the background doesn't help the image for me. A few steps left and that green area looks more appealing. Maybe not possible?

Keith, these are constantly moving around and quite weary of humans, they also stay low in thick brush and rare, moving about was maybe not impossible but very risky to lose the shot. I agree that the background could be much better but didn't think that it was possible at the time and took the shot. Thanks for the comment.

I love the way the warbler is perched on top of that stump, neat pose. Unfortunately though the bigger tree behind the bird is a bit too distracting and, in my opinion, spoils the final image.

Great bird, but bg and perch are not ideal. That being said...when the opportunity arises with a warbler...you jump on it! Singing pose of bird is really nice. Sharon

Nice singing posture on the warbler. I'm sad to hear about the status - this was always a nice bird to see migrating through NJ each year when I lived there.

Great pose, Claude. The oof tree in the bg is a bit dominating, but I'd take this shot.
