Brown-crested Flycatcher

This flycatcher was found in early light off a jeep trail and was lucky enough to double-up on it's meal selection.

The image taken from the right seat of an SUV in the Palo Verde National Park, Costa Rica.

An OOF branch was removed from behind the bird in PP.

Charles,

Nice catch for both of you
I find the position of the dragonfly wing behind the beak, is a bit of a nuisance, but a very very minor one :toast:

Nice detail and exposure that loos just right to retain those subtle colors.

I think this is very nice. The head turn with the bug is really nice. Catchlight in the eye is great. I keep commenting on the importance of backgrounds. This is another fine example of how a background accentuates the image. Lovely, soft pastel OOF background. Isn't it great shooting with long lenses that create such nice bokeh. Very nice. :toast:

Super shot Chuck. Love the simple comp and bugs. BG is super for this shot and makes the image. Clone work looks good to me.

Excellent capture Chuck. The background and the bug really make the image.

As good as it gets with a subtle flycatcher Chuck, great work with the low shutter speed - could have been higher certainly. The eye contact and bug make this special, congrats :toast:

Sweet shot. No complaints about the Flycatcher's table manner's, even though it isn't using a fork...
