Flakstad Beach, Lofoten, Norway

A gold ribbon of light illuminates a tide carved edge of sand on Flakstad Beach at sunset. Taken on the first evening of Ian's Transient Light Workshop.

Can't wait to see my Velvia 50 version of this scene.

Canon 5DM2
Canon TSE 24mm f/2.8L
ISO100 1/5sec f/16
1.5 Stop ND Gradient

Thanks for having a look.

An amazing beauty for me, Eva. I especially admire the warmer and cooler tones working wonderfully together. The stunning foreground details would make for a most interesting abstract in my opinion.

Gorgeous! Stunning scene - I especially like the carved sand in the FG and the spectacular light.
Also can't wait for the Velvia version!

Very nice composition from this area again, Eva. All looks good overall. Looking forward to the V-50 shots too. The black sand in the FG looks like it had some nice detail to share in some abstracts also.

Eva,

Beautiful golden light hitting that band of sand and just a great landscape image in general. I think I might be even more interested in the patterns in the sand and how the water patterns echo the sand. I'd love a tighter image that just shows the golden ribbon, sand and water patterns. ie. crop the entire top above the band and maybe 1/3 from the left. Of course though, this is lovely just as captured and presented.

Beautiful image Eva. I really like the patterns in the foreground sand and the golden band created by the side light. This looks like a beautiful place!

Lots of interesting patterns and textures in the sand. I hope you got some abstracts from there. The subtle light conveys a peaceful mood.

Beautiful combination of light, beach, snow, mountains... it's got it all! I particularly love the patterns in the foreground, and hope that you tried a wider angle / closer up approach to emphasize them, though I recognize that that's not your usual style.

Thanks everyone. I do have some abstracts from this place but taken a few nights later. We also witnessed an epic sunset a few days later with colors that were unbelievable. More to come especially after I receive my Velvia 50 transparencies back.

I do like the golden ribbon of sand, but my favorite is all of the strong textures and subtle colors in the foreground sand and water. I sure hope you focused in on those parts for at least one great abstract.

The beach looks great Eva. The sand patterns and the golden "ribbon" make it sing. Beautiful work.
