Alder Trees in White Water

I photographed this several weeks ago in Yosemite. It was shot just about mid-day, so the light was very harsh. I attemped to salvage the image by applying Vivezza and ColorEfex pro. Any comments are appreciated

Floyd,

The contrasty light wasn't doing you any favors, but I like the scene. I was in Yosemite around the 1st of May--the water level was much higher, but still below normal.

btw: Those aren't aspen, they are Alder.

This has a refreshing springtime look to it. The whites still look a little hot; OTOH, it draws attention to the stream, which makes ponder a tighter crop...

The scene has a lot of potential, well seen. Because of the harsh mid-day light the water is over exposed and a bit harsh. I don't know if it is the angle of things that gives the illusion, but the whole scene seems to need a little rotation to the right.

I agree that this has potential despite the harsh light. I would crop it a bit to emphasize the foreground trees. Since you have ColorEfex Pro, try hitting the water with the Detail Extractor filter (just the water, it would give the whole scene an unnatural HDR look). Hope that helps.
