Uttakleiv Tidal Pools

Uttakleiv, Lofoten, Norway

Here is my first film image from my trip to Lofoten on a Transient Light Workshop with Ian Cameron. I liked the green in the tidal pools and rounded, submerged boulders which contrast well with the ominous sky at sunset. I did take some abstracts of the boulders which I will post at a later date.

All 39 rolls of Velvia 50 arrived safe and sound over the weekend and needless to say, I am thrilled with the results. Now I am going through them all, deciding which to scan next.

Pentax 67II
Pentax 45mm
Polarizer and 1.5 Stop HE ND Gradient
Velvia 50

Thanks for having look.

Ok, I try again - as I was writing my comment, the image dissapeared
So, I really like the fg. You found a really nice arrengement of lines and colors. Sure a great place for abstracts too. I look forward to more of your Lofoten work. Beautiful image Eva.

Looks like a pretty exceptional place, Eva. Low the overall comp and mood of this shot. Most of the image looks cold and bleak but the green algae in the tidal pools suggest warmth. Nice contrast. The surf portion of the mid ground suggests lots of churning activity in comparison to the relatively quite FG & BG. What time of year was this?

Its a wonderful composition Eva. The colors and contrast are working nicely together. There are a couple of points that I did notice. One, there are few hot spots in the water that seem to lack detail. I don't know if its blank film or if it was lost in the scan. Second the mountain on the left appears to be soft, almost out of focus. It could just be a sharpening issue. Looking forward to more of you film images.

This is lovely, Eva! The green, angled tide pools grab my eyes and pull them to that arc of surf and finally to the mountains and all of the details in the clouds.

Nice composition- lots of elements that work together and hold interest throughout. Love the green moss vs the pink sky.

Eva, the colorful and angled foreground pools are show-stealers. The surf does seem too white and foggy/lacking detail. Looks to be a great location that you enjoyed.

Fantastic, Eva. Love how the smooth forms of the foreground rocks contrast with the jagged mountains, both artistically and geologically. The green of the seaweed and algae in the foreground also contrasts so nicely with far mountains and snow, Stunning composition. Incredible image.

Excellent image Eva. The colors are fantastic and your comp is strong. I would prefer to see the sky a bit darker though.

Eva, looks like the trip to this site could not have been better for photo ops. This scene is incredibly nice. From reviewing the image the weather looks to have been a real plus for this capture for sure. Excellent use of the grad and polarizer too. Those seem to have aided the capture perfectly.

Eva, I am fascinated by the foreground shapes and colors, again I think they would make for a most interesting abstract. You also add a great sense of depth and scale by the distant mountains to me.
