Wood Ducks

I had an exciting afternoon with several wood ducks at a local lake a few weeks ago. At least three pairs of wood ducks seemed to be competing for this small part of territory near the lake shore. This drake is preparing to defend it's stake against another invading pair of woodies.

Canon MkIV, 600mm, ISO 640, 1/2500, f8, manual spot meter

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Nice I like the out of focus ducks in the background. Foreground duck looks great, nice detail.

Very nice. The composition with the OOF Woodies behind and to the right is excellent. Woodies are difficult to expose; your's is very good, but if it were mine I'd try to tease a bit of detail out of the blacks on the head. The white are quite good, and the blacks on the flank and tail.

Very nice capture. I like the composition a lot. The black/dark portion on wing and covert looks too dark on my screen and is losing some details. Still a very fine image as it is.

Ken,

This is very colourful, unlike our few ducks here in South Africa, great light and great detail :toast:

Nice comp Ken, I guess trying to save the whites caused a bit of underexposure and the bird is facing away from the sun. Still a very pleasing capture. :toast:
