Here's one of the females from yesterday. I'm not sure what was higher up in the trees, but all the birds kept looking up for some reason. It made for some interesting poses.

1DIV, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow head mounted to blind window, f7.1, 1/320, iso 1000, Av mode wit no compensation. I brought the white sky above the bird down in ACR, otherwise processed in CS6. Cropped to 11 MP. Taken yesterday at 2:34 pm under rainy skies.

Your comments and criticisms are highly valued.

Thanks for looking,

Nice one, Dennis. I like the soft lighting and surroundings. A bird I need to seek out.... :toast:

Hi Dennis, not a lover of the highlight in the BKG, would look to softening it down with more of the nice delicate greens. Good detail, but I would lift the mid tones up, just helps the shadow areas maybe 1.16 ish as I wouldn't worry about the whites on the wings. A little unfortunate with the branches over the tail, but that's life, however I would loose the ones at the top of the image, doesn't add much and you can afford to prune them. I do like the habitat though.

Just check you web settings as it's not quite sRGB profiled and shows untagged and therefore the image may look a little saturated compared to your master file.

Nice to know it's raining with you too.

Cheers Dennis,

Nice one indeed, IMO the upper branch tips do distract somewhat at first glance. :toast:

Interesting pose and great detail. Very nice. The really light area in the background is kind of distracting and could use a bit of toning down.

The bird in this is excellent. Agree with others on the background lighting. Also, I might consider cropping down from the top, just below the needles entering the frame. Sharon

Excellent, Dennis. You're right about the head angle; it makes the photo. My eye keeps trying to make the branch in the lower right an extension of the wing. Maybe clone it out. The branches at the top don't bother me as much.
