Excelsior Night

Here's a view of the boardwalk and the mist rising from Excelsior Geyser, in Yellowstone's Midway Geyser Basin, lit from behind by a full moon. I tried a b&w conversion, but like the contrast between the blue in the sky and everything else being black & white. (5D3, 24-70 f2.8 @ 51mm, f/3.5, 3.2s, iso 400, tripod & cable release)

Great choice for this WC, this image has a moody feel to it that only a Full Moon can provoke. I'm glad you posted the color version.

Lots of great elements in this shot, Mark! I like the mist rising in front of the mountain, the great leading lines of the boardwalk, the path of moonlight, and the blue of the sky. Glad you posted the color version because I also like the blue in the sky contrasting with everything else in B&W. Good comp of these great elements and great entry for the theme.

This is magical. My favorite part is actually the look of the water. I like the blue sky also.

The boardwalk makes a nice leading line and I like the blue sky and steam, too. Very nice moonlight image.

I love the feel and the mystery of this picture. You also made the right choice with the color. I do find myself wishing for a sharper foreground, but still a great image.
