Old Man's Whiskers

One of the more appropriate common names for plants. The scientific name is Geum triflorum. These are actually the seed heads. The blossoms are a pink urn shape. I just picked this specimen up at the little native plant section of a local nursery.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f8, 1/160, Av mode with no compensation, iso 400. Processed in CS6 and cropped to 17.2MP. Taken May 26th at 10:21 am.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

This is way cool, Dennis! Love the whiskery texture and the curvy lines of this plant. The water drops really help highlight the texture and lines. Might wish for just a touch more room on the bottom.

This is beautiful, Dennis! Nice specimen and the sparkling water drops looks amazing. Really need to see the larger version to appreciate it. Well done!

Love the subtle, sombre tones here, Dennis, and the fabulous detail, with those clingy droplets ! Very well composed for me - no nits.

Dennis, I have seen these before, but never got a shot I liked, you did an excellent job with them. Beautifully done.

I like the comp for the most part though a little more room on the bottom wouldn't hurt. I like the placement of the blooms/seeds within the frame, and the water drops really make it come alive.

Well seen, Dennis. I like the soft double arc in the stems, the burst of fluff, in the seed heads and especially the water drops. If there's space and no distractions, I also think that a bit more room at the bottom (get all of the oof leaf in the lrc) might be good.
