In keeping with the storm theme, here's one from Ponca City OK last week. I was storm chasing, and saw this storm move south of the city after leaving a mexican place for dinner, so i drove off down the road in search of a good fg. Fortunately there was this power plant south of town, which was perfect for the metaphor of Nature trumping Man, so i pulled off on a farm road and walked out into a field to get some shots. Spent about half an hour firing off numerous 5 second exposures--nearly every one had multiple lightning strikes cause the storm was so electrical--one of the best lightning displays ive witnessed--it was just mesmerizing. This is one of my favs of that shoot.

Neat shot Stan. I'm still trying to work out the significance of the Mexican dinner.

White lightning? tequila? hot sauce?
I dunno, Martin--i think the reason i mentioned that is that i ran into Mike Umscheid there--he's a fellow weather forecater/chaser and well known storm photographer.

Quite a beautiful light show. Incredible energy. I am glad you cleaned that smudge off your sensor before you made this one.

Striking image Stan! :-) Love the electric glow in the sky. The power plant is certainly a fantastic prop for sense of scale as well as a comparison of mother natures power plant vs. man's. Excellent series.

Excellent Stan! Love how the power plant gives the scene scale. This would make a great large print!

Wicked light show and you did an awesome job capturing it. The only things missing are the sound of thunder and the smell of rain. Way to go!

Incredible energy in this image. Nicely put together. The lights of the power plant are the perfect foil for the dance of electricity in the sky

Terrific image, Stan, and congrats on the WP - but stay safe in those unpredictable storms. Tragedy befell 3 of your fellow storm-chasers.

Stan, Love this shot. Congrats on the WP. Shows how small one of man's greatest achievements (the harnessing of power) really is when compared to the raw power of mother nature. :toast:

Stan Rose! I am truly amazed at this image and that you apparently are still alive after standing in an open FIELD with all this going on. I have to think that you have the experience to know what you are doing...
Congrats on the Pick!
