Running Water

An intimate view of a section of high running creek in Columbia River Gorge. Water finds a way to get where it's going, and I liked the way this scene shows it. I wonder what you think of the comp, though-- no wide angle lens, so choosing where to contain the water within the frame presented a challenge...

GH3, tripod; 35-100 @ 75 ( 35mm equiv. = 150); f16, 2.5sec.

Comments welcome.

Personally, I think the comp is very well balanced Catherine. Good job at isolating the right elements to make this scene work. I would have preferred a slightly faster shutter speed to show more detail in the water, but other than that, very nice!

I like this comp with the angled view of the water flows and the alternating colors along that line. To me it shows the luxuriant abundance of the Gorge and illustrates very well that water will have its way. Nice job. Chet

A very orderly comp imo. And, the whole image is just lovely. From color to light to processing. Very well done.

Nice job here Catherine. Creating order out of chaos is a lot harder than it seems.

very nice image. The muted colors work very well and the blur of the water is just right.

Nice! I like the vibrant green against the darker rocks and the water woven through the entire image. An excellent composition for my tastes and a lovely scene.

The comp works very nicely for me, Catherine. The diagonal flow of the water throughout the scene is perfectly placed as are the two moss covered rocks. This is a beautiful intimate scene for sure.

Catherine,

Lovely little intimate scene here. I'm really enjoying the water throughout and the greens bring nice color in to what would be a nearly monochromatic scene. At first I was thinking that there's too much included here and wanted to crop some from the left, but in the end I have to agree with others that this is really a well balanced composition.

Wonderful image Catherine. I really like the water motion and and those PNW greens are just great. Like others have said I like the balance in this and I know how hard it is to balance the chaos in these streams. Well done.
