4-Spotted Chaser

I went out to a fen habitat this morning and ran into several nice odonates that were very cooperative. There were several 4-spotted chasers (Libellula quadrimaculata) and I was able to photograph this particular individual. Thank you for checking out this image......Jim

Expertly done, Jim. The color and detail in the DF is outstanding, and I like the comp and bg. Hardly worth mentioning, but the top portion of the stick is a little bright and grabs the eye. Toning it down, if possible, would make this even better. :toast: :wavey:

Excellent - perfect DOF and plane of focus.
Great colours and sweet BG.
The stick kind of stands out as is, so I'd be tempted to darken it a bit (the whole thing) so it does not draw the eye from the great d'fly.

Wow, this is poke in the eye sharp, with amazing details in the df. That's a spectacular dragonfly.

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestions. I created a couple of layers and reduced the exposure by .73 of a stop and used the top layer as a mask to reveal the darkened branch. It looks better with the toned down stick :wavey: ..........................................Jim

Fantastic capture, Jim! Hard to get the body and wings of these critters in focus but this looks just great all around to me. Very nice background and great comp. Love the translucent look and design of their wings.

As mentioned, amazing detail! I like the repost best, with the darkened stick.

Very nicely done. I like the repost with the darkened twig. That dragonfly is amazingly sharp.
