Four-spot Skimmer

This Four-spotted Skimmer (Libellula quadrimaculata) landed near my hiding place when I was shooting the Merganser and her chicks. I took the photograph with the 150 - 500. This is definitely not as sharp as my macro lens. There are more insects out there now and I'll start outings with the macro lens.

7D, Sigma 150-500 at 500, f/6.3, ISO 400, 1/1600 sec, monopod, natural light, PP in LR4, CS6 and NIK. Cropped

All your comments are much appreciated. Thanks for your comments on my other photos. Roger.

A nice pose and decent capture with the glass you had along. Lovely colors with the browns, gold and copper. A agree with you about the sharpness, on my monitor there appears quite a white halo effect along the top of the head and tail that I'm thinking are just the OOF hairs.
