Meadow Buttercup

These small flowers are standing tall at the moment, always, it seems, attended by grasses. Shot in evening light, with a pale late sun coming through the grass.

Canon 7D, Tamron 55-200mm lens @ 135mm, 1/2500 sec @ f4, - 1.33ev, ISO 400, hh. Some added blur with Color Efex or Topaz ( can't quite recall !! )

Natural environment with the subject melding into it's surroundings is so real. Some may see items as distracting but I like it all.

I let these (or a close relative) grow in my lawn so I can photograph them, but was out of town during blooming season this year. I like the isolation, focus, and the blur, but find myself wishing for a less muddy green in the background.

I think I've said it before, your work really appeals to me, love the tiny little world and how you present it. Lovely as always.

Very artistic, Ian. I find the grasses and overall soft color very appealing. :toast:

This is a masterpiece of simplicity in which there is so much to see! Very artful composition, too.

Sweet heavenly presentation... a lively buttercup among ghostly drifting grasses. Nice effect.

Perfect focus and subject placement. Love all the little tid bits in the BG and the amazing detail in the center of the Buttercup !

Lovely, Ian. I've always found buttercups difficult, and you've really caught the essence here. The bg is superb.

Well done,

The selective dof is perfect, show casing the bloom against the softly blurred bg. Excellent portrait of a lovely flower

Ian, this is a good photo, in my opinion. The crowded scene is simplify by a good selective focus.
Take care,

Ian: This is exceptional IMO. Normally I might find the grass on the right distracting but in this presentation I find it a reasonable contributor to the overall comp. That said, when I crop this to a vertical by eliminating 40% or so of the right side I find it even more compelling. Nicely done.>=))>
