Marsh Wren

Took another kayak trip on the nearby river and got some more images of Marsh Wrens which really are tough to capture! I had to add canvas on the right side of this image to make it work.

Nikon D7100 300mm f4 + 1.7X TC HH from kayak wedged into the shore
f/6.7
1/2500s
ISO 500

Taken vertically - nearly full frame after deleting unused right side of photo and adding canvas to left side. Minor clone to get rid of OOF reeds in BG.

Nice, clean shot of this wren on an interesting perch. I like the pose away from the perch, with the tail sticking out the other way. Nice head turn with catchlight in the eye. The tail looks less sharp on my monitor - I don't know if it is DOF or if the bird is twitching its tail. These little birds are always moving and difficult to catch. Nicely done.

Pretty cool, Luke. The reeds made me think of Long Island immediately and I figured this was yours. Nice, clean composition :toast:

Great pose Luke, and it's neat to see a shot of one above the camera.

Love the pose Luke, and the reed really adds an artistic touch to the image, with the bend of it. Nice!!

Nice to get this little guy with a single reed in the frame! They are tough little birds, and tough to capture, too! Sharon
