Painted Hills Unit, John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Oregon, USA
Canon 5dIII, 70-200 f/2.8 II @ 120mm, Polarizer, 1/125sec @ f/8, ISO 100

I've visited this place many times over the years, but I've never come back with a relatively wide view of the park. I tend to go to the 300-500mm abstracts. Last weekend, though, I had some luck with a landscape style image. This shot, i hope, shows the environment of the park, and I also hope it has a bit of depth to it. It is so easy to go overboard on contrast and saturation with Painted Hills images, so I purposely kept the adjustments to a minimum. I'm interested in reading what you all think. Comments and critiques appreciated.

Thanks.

I'm glad you posted this David. I have not been there, so it's nice to see an image with this perspective. I now have a better sense of where the telephoto abstracts are coming from. You caught some nice light in the foreground, and the processing feels very natural.

Exquisite color and textures. Lovely DOF. I think these types of landscapes are gorgeous. Well done, thanks for posting it. :toast:
