not long ago i returned from a short trip to the northern coast of spain, where i had the pleasure of photographing the very same beaches, where josé fernandez takes his amazing coastal shots. to make a long story short, the coast is amazingly beautiful and josé is not only a great photographer (and master of exposure blending) but also a super nice person! thanks for guiding me around, josé! :toast:

as usual, you can read the story behind the image on my blog.

Costa Occidental de Asturias, Spain

Canon 5DMKIII, EF 17-40 @ 20mm, GND
ISO 100, f/11, 5 seconds
single exposure processed in LR and PS (TKs luminosity masks)

best,
joerg

Awesome shot. Love the comp and light, and your longer exposure was perfect for this scene

That's wonderful, Joerg. Very beautiful scene and I like the patterns of the surf resulting from the long exposure.

Beautiful composition. For some reason I get a sense of mystery to the rocks in the background. Well seen and exposed. :toast:

I absolutely love the visual flow of this image. The rock stands out wonderfully in the foreground, and the path of the receding water produces a strong compositional element. When this is combined with the nice light in the background, and the downward sloping rocks along the right and left edges, the result is a very dynamic, yet calm composition. Very well seen and well executed.

Joerg this is an awesome image. I thought at first it was a Jose photo which I think is a real compliment. The water and sky colors are gorgeous and the exposure right on. :toast: Chet

George.
I like the way the color tone is changing from the FG to the BG. Thanks for sharing.

My only alteration would be to add a bit more weight back into the brightest of highlights.
A real beauty!

Joerg,

Ditto what Ben said! I really like the transition of color throughout here too - from the orange in the rock, to the turquoise in the waves to the slight magenta in the clouds. The flow is wonderful too. Excellent.

Very nice. The brightly colored rock makes a fine anchor in the image.
