Bee Balm 2

Another view and another blossom. Taken this morning before the sun really got above the horizon. We're having much higher temperatures and clearer skies than normal and the light was harsh within ten minutes of the sun clearing the horizon. This was lit by the pre-sunrise glow in the east.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod and cable release in live view mode. f32, 1.6 sec, iso 800, Av mode with -1/3 compensation. Processed in CS6 and cropped mostly from the sides with a touch off the top. I desaturated the greens a bit because the leaf on the right hand side was distractingly bright.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Like Ram, I prefer this view, Dennis. There's a couple distracting areas in the bg, but that's what you're going to get with f32. The trade off is the excellent dof in the flower, of course. Very nice.

Catching all the "fur" on the blooms is special. This is a great view. It sounds like you've already put significant effort into calming the bright greens and I'd say you did very well except for that bit in the lower right. Since you're using PS6, I'd suggest trying a Selective Color layer, working on the greens and more likely the yellows and then using a mask to only let your changes affect that small bright area. In spite of the extended description, that bit of brighter green is a minor distraction on a fine picture and it becomes less of a distraction as the pictures get larger.

Wonderful photo Dennis. I especially like the colors and the DOF which you got with the f32. Nice one.
