The struggle between dark and light, night and day, and cold and warm continues on this evening on top of Mt. Evans.

C&C always welcome, and thanks for looking,

I hate to use the overworked word 'awesome' here...so I won't.
But this really is a magnificent scene you captured, Morris! Just the right amount of detail in the shadowed areas, and the clouds (fog?) are simply sublime. You must have felt twice blessed to witness this scene. The title and your first sentence are wonderfully descriptive of the emotion that this scene evokes.
This and 'Heaven's Path' are two of your very best.

Cool! I like this better than the last one--great conditions. Just a thought, but i wonder how this would look with the clouds neutralized (warmed up)--its a warm image and that might boost the warmth even more. Just a thought... :wavey:

Oh my Morris, your last posts are just getting better and better! Still reminds me of Hawaii in many ways. Magnificent image! Very ethereal and just down right beautiful.

I've run out of superlatives for these images, Morris. I think I like the color palette even better on this one, but as I mentioned before it's hard to pick a favorite. I can't think of anything to critique so I'm just going to enjoy it.

Just out of curiosity - was this a single exposure capture or did you blend multiple exposures?

Thanks so much for the comments everyone. :wavey:

John, blessed is exactly how I felt. It was about this time that I had to tell myself to stop tripping the shutter and take the time to fully enjoy what was unfolding before me. I had a short conversation with God thanking him for the privilege to be there.

Stan, I was hoping it was a divided image between cool and warm to convey the struggle. I'm not sure my message would be as clear if I warmed it up, but I'll play with it to see.

Brian, it is a single image run through RAW in CS6 with a slight recovery of highlights and shadows there. The clouds in front of the sun really allowed an exposure that wasn't that hard to work with.

I think this one is even better than the last, which is no easy feat. The foreground is stronger here and the mid-ground on the left helps balance the image with the sun. Great work on the dynamic range as well. Superb work Morris.

I'm loving the colors and the thick air. You have also provided some nice distance between the foreground and background ridges giving the viewer a sense depth. Very successful image Morris! The WOW factor comes when you click on the larger image.
