Widow skimmers (Libellula luctuosa) are a common resident around our pond. I shot this perched male using the algal mat of the pond for a background. Slight crop for composition plus sharpening with Topaz Detail. K5 IIs, 300mm f4 at f13, 1/320sec....................Jim

Jim - Very pretty. Precise use of the DOF to cover the wing tips.

Beautiful sharp image. This is one of my favorite dragonflies because of the broad & vivid wing bands. I find it interesting that DFs with prominent wing patterns tend to have featureless bodies & vice versa. Great work!

Very nice Jim, it's a beauty and I love how he fits the BG colours. Nice shimmer in the BG too.

Great look as this widow, with nearly wingtip-to-wingtip sharpness and a gently complementary background. Widow's visit my pond occasionally, but my environment is right so they don't hang around.

Excellent detail and sharp front to back - hard to do.
Congrats on the WP!
