Eternal Glow

Shooting earlier this spring along the merced river for cascades and dogwoods I thought I'd try something a little different while noticing this glow coming from under the bridge and really lighting up the water. Let me know what you think. Check out the large version.

The combination of the yellow/orange glow and the greenish water is really nice.

I'd consider cropping a bit from the left, which may make the curved line of the bridge more prominent and effective, connecting both sides of the frame.

Excellent! This is a take on Yosemite I have never seen and great to see it.

A great and simple graphic. The light on the inside of the arch is rich and warm and the green water and the white rushing water are lit, but the land is in shadow. A terrific effect. Even though the stone of the bridge is in deep shadow, the detail of the stone is clear. Brightening the detail could be beneficial, but on the other hand it might compete with the glow of light under the arch. My one complaint is that I have the impression that the face of the bridge is leaning slightly toward us. I guess this was a camera angle thing and nothing can be done in post processing, but it doesn't spoil the overall effect. A really nice photo.

Max-Thanks for the crop suggestion, I think thats works pretty well..
Harley-That means a lot coming from you.
Buck-Yes there wasn't too much I could do about that based on the angle, branches, etc.

Very nice light. The perspective and the shadow detail are pretty cool as well. I'd probably clone out the bluish rock and lit rock near the left side of the frame.

Todd,

One of these times I'm going to take off my Nature and Landscape goggles and put some film on scenes like this. the bridge is classic and historical. I've seen this light beneath the Pahono... this is simply wonderful. Everything words here, I love this! Kudos!

I definitely prefer the repost Todd. Excellent exposure balance and wonderful color on the underside of the bridge and water. Nice crisp detail in the rocks of the bridge.

I like this concept of unexpected glow. The contrast here maybe seems a bit harsh to appreciate the image fully.
