Things have been very busy lately and I haven't been on here much, but I do look forward to sharing some new work before long. I'm getting ready to leave for Lake superior soon but wanted to post this shot of one of my favorite places in the fall. I have shot this place several times and posted pictures of it, but I think this one is probably my favorite. This river is in Upper MI west of Munising. I look forward to getting back on here more when I return. Thanks in advance for any thoughts. Larger version included. Canon, 24-105L @30mm, iso 100, f/20, 3.2 sec with polarizer.

It's very pretty Nick and very naturally photographed. I like the texture of the falling water over the main lip of the falls but I am not quite as keen on the texture of the water in the bottom left corner. I did wonder if darkening the highlights down a touch in this corner would throw more attention back to the main fall which deservedly captures the attention. like the mist too.

I really like this image. The light, color, water blur, and composition. This really has a very nice peadeful feeling to it.

Hi Ian, Thanks! I can see what you mean about the lower left corner water too. Maybe I can get that to look a little better. I want to do a large print of this so appreciate your suggestion! Cheers, Nick

Hi Navin and Richard, Thanks much! Looking forward to hiking along this river again this fall.

An excellent comp, Nick. And, I really like the color throughout. The mist on the water in the back is the icing on this very beautiful cake.

You have made a very nice image, Nick. It really evokes a peaceful and natural mood that the viewer can relate to. Beautiful, natural color and nice comp as well. Job well done. Chet

Gorgeous scene. I agree with the comments about the water in the lower left. I'm also not really digging the vegitation in the lower right. Not much to be done about it besides put in the time to clone it out. I would, if it were my image... but I like that kind of self abuse.

Incredibly beautiful for me, Nick! All the elements work wonderfully together, and the haze in the distance just makes the difference to my eye.

Love this old natural falls. The rock striations throughout are just so pleasing.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate all of your comments and thoughts.
Ted, Thanks, I did shoot a bit different comp of this without the grass in the lower right corner too. The view then was from a little more forward and a bit higher but still worked out pretty nice.
Well, back to all of my mowing now. Trying to get everything taken care of so I can head north! Nick

Lovely scene! The mist on the water is a real plus, as well the light overhead. I do agree with the darkening of the LLC. The vegetation in the RHC is not a problem to me, more of a plus, actually. You might spend some time with a few of the thin grass stems out over the water.

I really like the tranquil atmosphere in this lovely autumn scene, Nick. The fall color is great, but the light fog really sets the table for the scene IMO. Wonderful image; good luck on your trip.

Delicate, soft and beautiful. Enough said. Personally I would bump up the saturation.

SWEET shot Nick. This has so many nice elements and they all come together so well. I've been sitting here admiring this for a while now. Superb work - one of your finest IMO.

Thanks so much guys! Really appreciate getting your thoughts on this. When I get a little more time (after the trip) I will work on a version with the highlights toned down a bit in the lower left foreground water before printing. As always, thanks for the help. Nick

Sweet--this is real pretty Nick! The h2o looks good to me. The grass/reeds sticking up from the rhs bottom are a tiny bit distracting, but not a big deal, really like the overall mood here. :wavey:

Lovely scene. The mist in the background is a nice touch. The right lower corner is not overly distracting for me.

Really a beautiful location, and you caught some great conditions too! I think, like others that the vegetation in the front corner is a slight distraction, but not a deal breaker by any means. I think it looks "natural" this way and that in not a bad thing.
