Pink Perfusion
by Harry Lichtman
For several days in the beginning of June each year, marshy areas in NH's White Mountains explode in intense pinks. Rhodora come into full bloom before much of the plants leaves, thereby isolating the color against darker leafless branches. I normally wouldn't have taken a shot from this location, but the early morning fog/clouds obscured mountain side condos normally visible to the left. A major road to the right was carefully hidden by trees and fog. Coffee only a short walk away at a convenience store on the road, so the wilderness look to the image is an illusion.
5D II, 17-40L, 3 image blend (2 for DOF, 1 for sky exposure)
The trees on each side may have been effected by lens distortion, which I decided not to correct. They were angled somewhat, maybe not as much as in the image.

Love the early morning view on this one, Harry.......Congratulations on your image in OP this month too. Just got my copy.
Mark - I think the pink in the clouds is more from the pre-dawn conditions, though I have seen (especially in the fall) illuminated clouds at sunrise reflect the light onto trees, making them even more vibrant, or so it seems! Found similar conditions during my only trip to Glacier a couple of years back.
