Storm Pass Sunrise

After several mornings of incredible sunrises and horrible luck/forethought on location selection, I decided to go to Storm Pass in RMNP. I was lucky enough to get some incredible light on Hallett Peak. It was quite windy so some of the flowers are a bit blurry:/
C&C welcome!

That is some glorious light on the mountains Evan! Wish the light was like that on my trip. A few thoughts. First, my eye is particularly drawn to the peaks because they are where the color and action is. The comp doesn't hold up well to my eye. There seems to be too much empty space in the lower right and the trees on the upper right give this an unbalanced feel. I think a horizontal format would work better here if you were able to get more of the creek in the frame. Another suggestion might be to crop the right side just to the right of the pine that isn't sticking out of the frame and crop a bit from the top and bottom. It will flow much better for a vertical. Looking forward to more from your trip!

Evan,
Absolutely wonderful light - lucky you. I do tend to agree with Peter's comments though. Although the little flowers are a nice addition the bare ground on the right is not very pleasing. I'm sure the horizontal crop will help. Also the trees in the upper right being cut off and leaning out of the frame are bothersome for me. Perhaps due to the wind or maybe distortion from the WA?

I agree with Peter's comments Evan but you've captured some great light on the mountains and I like the river flowing back into the scene. Very nice.

Here is a re-edit with the horizontal crop, much better I think. *Wrong file*
