Oregon Sea Stack

It was midday when I arrived at Cape Blanco State Park on the Oregon coast and the light was really harsh, but lately i've learned that I can get good B&W shots under those conditions. This is one of my favorite sea stacks on the coast because of how tall and narrow it is, and I positioned myself so the sun was directly above the pillar. Other than converting to B&W, I cloned out some sun spots and did a little dodging and burning. Any input is appreciated.

Very dramatic image with a good variety of tones. I can see why this sea stack would be a favorite. Nice work, Thomas. Chet

I actually really like this bold and graphic interpretation. I think I would go the whole hog and make the stack a complete and total silhouette and hike the contrast a good bit further finally reducing the brightness for the best overall graphic look. Great effort though, I just think you need to go creatively a little further in the processing, that'll divide opinion but so what.

Real nice job of using the mid-day sun to advantage. I would go with Ian's suggestions and see where they take you.
