Squirrel Monkey

It was interesting to read last night that Costa Rica is getting rid of its zoos. I suppose if there's one place that doesn't need a zoo, it may be this country, which has historically done a great job of setting aside land and habitat for conservation. You can find loads of biodiversity all over the country, one of the reasons it's one of my favorite destinations for wildlife photography.

This Central American squirrel monkey (whose species status was recently changed from "Endangered" to "Vulnerable") was part of a troop that came onto our lodge grounds every morning during one of my photo tours in February.

I too like seeing a good amount of representative habitat for this monkey. Beautiful work on exposure and sharpness, color, etc. The pose on the excellent diagonal limb grounds the photo nicely. :toast:

Nice environmental image, Max! Costa Rica is absolutely one of my favorite places for wildlife too. And now they are going to let all the animals of the two zoos free.... Thats going to be fun. :toast:
