Please look at the LARGE version before commenting. Compression is killing the small version. I uploaded this using just the large image and it doesn't look like it converted to the small size very well.

This has sat in a folder in PS since 2006, unused and unwanted. I decided to play with it a little to see if anything could be salvaged. The color version was plain out butt-ugly so I converted to B&W emulating Fuji Neopan ACROS film which gave it a good bit of contrast and played a bit more just for the fun of it. I've always wondered if an image has ever made it off the first page of NPN without a single comment. This may be the one!

2 image pano cropped basically square.

I'm really enjoying looking at this, Bill. Larger version for sure! Wonderful light, shadows, shapes and textures that work so well in your b&w conversion. Maybe the color version didn't work but I think this one sure does. No worries about going off the first page without being noticed or commented on.

I am really liking the image. Great detail and great idea to convert it. This works really well for me.

Very nice b/w image Bill. The large version looks great. You did a good job composing this scene and taming the chaos. My only nit is that small stick in the RLC which is sneaking into the edge of the frame. Maybe crop/clone it?

Very nice, Bill. You're right, you have to see the large version to appreciate it.

A perfect use of BW. A texture puzzle which I like. The 3 shadow areas of the trunk tie it together nicely, and the leaf and vine detail doesn't feel as overwhelming as if were a color. Glad you found this to give it a new life.

Powerful image, Bill. You have captured the story of nature very well with this image. The larger image brings it across!.. :toast: Chet

:toast: Bill, this has the Sleepy Hollow or Ichabod Crane look to it. I think this was one of those hidden gens you might have passed up before, but it has come to life here.
A pretty chaotic scene, but also a very neat subject. I'm weak on b&w conversions myself, so I can only say it looks really neat to me.

wow--now that's chaotic! I like it tho. One thought popped in my head--wondering how a low contrast version would look (cauce this is contrasty!) Not sure it would look any better...just a thought..
