Soft sunset light, fog and a small pool of water in the central Snæfellsnes Peninsula of Iceland, July 2013.

During our visit to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula we saw lots of coastal fog, but in the interior of the peninsula it was possible to get up above the fog. I captured this image right at the top of the fog layer one evening.

Nikon D800, Nikkor 24-120 at 27mm, polarizer, cropped to 9:4 pano
1/10 sec at f/16, ISO 100

Thanks for taking a look. Let me know if you have any comments or suggestions. I intentionally kept this one on the dark side, because I liked the mood the darkness created. Larger version is provided.

Mood is fantastic! Very simple but effective. Not your usual shot from Iceland. I dig it.

Sun and fog create a lot of magic but I like the fg grasses best. The glow on the pool of water is wonderful and the warm overall tone is pretty special for Iceland. Nice job

I like the mood and mystery here, Scott. This is not the type of image that I would expect from Iceland so I think you have captured something unique here. Beautifully captured and processed.

Scott, I love scenes like this and this one is fantastic! Not what I would expect from Iceland either making it even more impressive. Awesome mood! :toast:

I like the cropped comp here, and the backlight on the taller plants surrounding the water. I could see smoothing out the
sun's brightness a touch more, but the mood here is outstanding.

Never would have guessed this was Iceland. Very original image from there. Beautiful light with wonderful abstract qualities.

A wonderfully moody image. Very well balanced with the water FG matching the sun, and great color.

I really like this! The mood is perfect, and the contrast of detail in the foreground grass with the foggy background is really effective. Superb! :toast:

Beautiful shot Scott, reminds of a mouth opening. I like the low light very much.
